Fitness Programs and Their Many Benefits

Key Benefits with a Good Fitness Programs

There is so much to gain from participating in some form of a fitness activity. Being active and off the couch is just for starters. Some other benefits are:

  • Body weight control
  • Less likely to contract type 2 diabetes
  • Lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels
  • Stronger muscles and bones

But beyond those things our kids are better able to deal with stress. They will sleep better. And they will most likely do that much better in school.

Fitness Elements

Endurance / Strength / Flexibility

If your child and friends are left to their own devices they'll most likely be working those elements into their daily routine. How you might ask? Easy!

  • Chase, tag, capture the flag or any running game helps withEndurance
  • Pull ups on the bars or swinging on the monkey bars helps withStrength
  • Simple acts like touching their toes or tying their shoes helps with Flexibility

This is why it is so important that your kid(s) get outside for 30-60 minutes a day. They will naturally engage in activities that will increase their heart rate (aerobic exercise).

Climbing a tree, wrestling and even doing a handstand helps build further strength.

And reaching for a favorite toy helps to move the body through a full range of motion.

Always keep it fun for your kid(s) and they'll take a healthy active foundation in their adult lives.

Some extra tips on raising fit kids:

  • Have your kids participate in a variety of age appropriate activities
  • Try to keep a regular schedule
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator to show how to incorporate fitness into daily activities
